Cardinal George stands by his Kland – Literally. Many people are calling for the Cardinal’s resignation due to his comments and by standing by the KKK. “[T]he organizers invited an obvious comparison to other groups who have historically attempted to stifle the religious freedom of the Catholic Church.”, the cardinal made this statement, as reported by the Windy City Times concerning the comment.

The controversy began on Dec. 18, when the Cardinal, in the midst of an interview on Fox Chicago concerning a local Roman Catholic church’s complaints that a re-routed Gay Pride Parade would pass by its front doors and thwart their Sunday mass, said he understood the parish’s concerns.

Next Month, majority of schools in Southern California will required to mandate public schools to promote healthy Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered issues within the social sciences for education. Many opponents are already prepared to overturn it.

In education today, many kids don’t have a positive view of the LGBT community and it truly will be a monumental moment for the state of California to pass this bill and mandate this for educational system to honor all cultures respectively.

Between Women is truly something revolutionary for the LGBT community (especially for LGBT media). This web series premiered season two on December 13th, 2011. The series shows a group of six friends (who reside in Atlanta) whose daily lives are filled with all sorts of situations from co-parenting to infidelity, to trust issues to finding their own way.

Based on the specs from the YouTube channel, the teaser for the series reported a total of: 2,998 and counting (people could literally be accessing this as we speak). Based on what I see, Michelle A. Daniel (Executive Director/Creator/Writer) has a true gem on her hands. This LGBT web series longs for what most of the ” L Word” fans were missing but brings a more realistic perspective pertaining women of color. I know for a fact I will surely be tuned in to check this out on a weekly basis. Who knows, I could be a new cast mate ;) (yup, i’m putting that into the Universe #LOA)

Below is Episode 2. If you want to check out more from the Between Women series, check out there episodes on their website at http://www.betweenwomentv.com/ or at there YouTube Channel: http://www.YouTube.com/BetweenWomenTV

Greetings to the World Wide Web. 2011 has been an innovative yet brainstorming year for the TGB team.

Originally, when I first came up with the title and idea for the company (almost 4 years ago), I was in a totally different space. I was a little bit younger and always wondering about the hottest events for the LGBTQ community. As I am getting ready to embark on my 30th birthday in a few days (Team Capricorn), I understand now my purpose, vision, and mission for TheGayBeltway.com has truly shifted along with my audience. I have watched many of my friends and acquaintances in the LGBTQ community evolve into their purpose but they still want to have fun as well so welcome to the new dawning of a new day.

TheGayBeltway.com will be re-launching within Q1 of 2012. Date right now is tentative but definitely feel free to follow us on twitter.com/thegaybeltway or  stay tuned with all upcoming information. If you are wishing to purchase ad space on our site to promote your events or business feel free to contact us via email at advertise@thegaybeltway.com. If you have general inquires or information about TheGayBeltway.com, feel free to email us at info@thegaybeltway.com

Cheers to a new beginning for the LGBTQ community.
